Developments in Polyethylene materials during recent years have dramatically changed the capabilities of PE piping systems. Polyethylene is no longer calssified by its density (e.g. LDPE or HDPE), but is now divided into classes by the strength of the material.
PE80 is in common use for piping systems, and provides an excellent system that is highly chemically resistant, flexible, strong and is easily weldable. Until recently, PE80 has been the first choice for a wide range of applications. PE100 has been developed to make further improvements in strength, stiffness and hardness. In addition, by using this new material it is possible to produce pipes with the same pressure rating as PE80 but with recuced wall thickness. |
